I think of this painting as honoring nature rather than any Pagan ritual, although that is what Pagan rituals were about.
As, we have just celebrated Easter, I came across a youtube video showing that in Germany, they will light a bonfire at Easter as a way of burning the old and starting a new. I`m not sure if this has Pagan origins or Christian.
I think its seems like a nice thing to do anyway.
I painted the leaves just beginning to form buds on the tree, showing an early Spring beginning.
